AI and data

Sovereign by design, or hosted for you. Your rules decide.

Bardioc runs where your obligations say it has to run. In your own data centre, air-gapped if that is what the work requires. On a sovereign cloud. On a hyperscaler. Or hosted for you by Almato in their own certified data centres. The platform is the same in every one of them, and none of the options put your data somewhere you did not choose.

01 / Where it runs

Four deployment models, one platform

For regulated work, and particularly for anything touching public sector or defence, this is the question that decides the conversation. So it is the first thing on the page rather than a footnote at the end.

Sovereign

Your own data centre

On-premises operation on your own infrastructure, including air-gapped deployment where the environment demands it. Nothing leaves your estate and no third party operates it.

Sovereign

Sovereign cloud

Deployment on sovereign cloud infrastructure, so jurisdiction and operator are both under your control rather than a global provider’s.

Hosted

Hosted by Almato

Run for you on Almato’s own geo-redundant data centres in Frankfurt, certified to ISO 27001 for security and ISO 20000 for service management, as a tenanted or dedicated platform.

Flexible

Your existing cloud

Runs on AWS, Azure and OpenStack platforms, on Kubernetes or OpenShift, with reference architectures for each rather than a bespoke build every time.

Why it can do that

Digital sovereignty is a design decision in Bardioc, not a deployment option bolted on afterwards.

The platform is built extensively on open-source components and an open, published ontology, which is what makes independent operation possible in the first place. A closed platform can be installed in your data centre and still leave you dependent on the vendor to understand your own data. Bardioc has also been certified to ISO 27001 and ISO 25051 in customised environments.

02 / The platform

Bardioc, the semantic data platform

Fragmented data is one of the biggest barriers in healthcare and in large enterprise. The information exists. It sits in systems that were never designed to talk to each other, often across several organisations, and the meaning of it is lost the moment it leaves the system it was created in.

Bardioc holds the meaning as well as the data. It is an ontology-based semantic platform, described by its makers as an operating system for data, built around a knowledge graph rather than a warehouse. Data keeps its context and its relationships regardless of where it came from, so each integration is reusable across projects and systems instead of being modelled again every time.

Be clear who builds it

Bardioc is built by Almato AG. Data Safe Solutions is a partner and reseller, and we deliver it.

Almato is a Stuttgart-based specialist in semantic data platforms with around 200 people developing and maintaining Bardioc. What we bring is the delivery, the integration and accountability for the implementation in your estate.

Explainable by design

Every answer carries its source and its reasoning path. Historisation lets you query the graph as it stood at a point in time, which is the prerequisite for audit and for use in any regulated environment.

Open ontology, not a black box

The OGIT ontology is published as open source on GitHub and can be extended with your own domain language. You can see how the model organises meaning rather than taking it on trust.

Security at data level

Encryption at rest and in transit, permissions at individual record level, and access requiring both a user and an application token. Audit logs are signed and cannot be deleted or altered.

Scales past pilot

Tested to several hundred petabytes with automatic sharding and partitioning. Most data projects die at the point where the pilot has to become an estate.

DATAGROUP · IT service desk

85%Faster resolution
41%Tickets automated
95%Fewer re-openings
40%Lower staff turnover

DATAGROUP automated its own service desk with Bardioc rather than offshoring it. Within six months 41% of tickets were being processed autonomously, including non-standard queries that rule-based automation cannot handle, because the reasoning engine interprets each ticket in context rather than matching it to a template.

NEORIS · SAP ticket automation

~40% to 90%Automation rate

Standard workflows previously needed manual allocation or rules-based processing, which capped how much could be automated. With semantic context applied to each case, more complex tickets became automatable rather than being escalated.

A German federal ministry · Policy analysis

Up to 91%Higher response quality
All criteriaOutperformed the comparison systems

Thousands of pages of parliamentary committee minutes indexed as a structured knowledge space, with debate logs, speaker roles and time references held as relationships rather than as text. Conventional systems answered quickly but failed on transparency and reproducibility. This is the difference between a fast answer and one you can defend.

The University of Liverpool work

Since 2025 we have also been working with the University of Liverpool on connecting data across siloed systems and multiple NHS Trusts without disrupting existing workflows. That is our own programme rather than Almato’s, and it is where our NHS-specific work sits.
