1. PXE Boot Begins
The laptop starts with no internal bootable media. Instead, it requests and receives boot instructions over the network using the PXE protocol. This is ideal for zero-touch deployments in managed environments.
2. Bootloader Menu Appears
The system loads a network-based bootloader, giving the operator a clean, simple interface to select the desired operating system image.
3. Operating System Loads
The selected image – our proprietary operating system – begins booting. This lightweight, purpose-built OS is optimised for rapid deployment and focused entirely on secure data erasure.
4. DSS Application Launches
Once the OS is ready, our custom application launches immediately. The user is presented with an intuitive interface for performing certified, automated data destruction.
5. Data Erasure in Action
The tool detects the connected storage device(s), selects the correct NIST 800-88 erasure method based on the device’s capabilities, and initiates the wipe. All of this is hands-off – no complex decisions or technician guesswork.
